TYPE 3 FLUSH connector

The TYPE 3 FLUSH connector is a sturdy and reliable way to invisibly connect and hang items. The Button-fix Type 3 Flush is molded from polybutylene terephthalate. It is designed for applications where panel-to-panel contact is required and fits into a milled oval pocket. It can be mounted on the edge of a panel at least 28mm thick or on the surface of a panel at least 18mm thick and positioned for push-fit installation. Provided the screws and substrate are properly aligned and all other instructions are followed, independent testing has shown that a vertical panel attached with four 3-flush fasteners can withstand a maximum load of 60kg. For critical applications it is necessary to perform your own tests.

How to quickly attach the connector?
The marker helps determine where to install the buttons. Once you have attached the connector (see the following pages), insert a marker into each one. Then position the second panel and press firmly. The markers leave recesses on the panel surface that can be used as guides for drilling pilot holes for buttons. Remove markers that can be reused to mark the next panel.

What is BUTTON-FIX?
The Button-fix concept is simple: durable buttons are attached to the back of the board and a matching connector is screwed to the surface of the adjoining board. Then the two plates are placed on top of each other and closed until a “click” sound is heard.

* When using the Flush rebated into a ceiling panel, allowances should be made for the shorter effective length of the screws and their reduced pull-out strength.

Button plate

The Button Plate is a solution for Type 3 push-on connector. It is designed for securing buttons to thin panels or materials that are not suitable for screw-in applications. Applications include installing solid wall panels that must be removed to access the electrical services behind them, and where adjacent component constraints prevent the use of a Type 1 BONDED fastener.

The button plate is made of the same material (ABS) as the Type 1 Bonded connector, making it suitable for a wide range of adhesives. For example, two-component acrylic adhesives for metal or laminate panels, a compatible adhesive for the Type 1 connector (Corian, Hanex, etc.), or an adhesive for bonding with acrylic. The distinctive hole pattern in the strip ensures optimal adhesive distribution and adhesion.

The plate is supplied with a suitable mounting screw and nut for securing the purple Type 3 connector button (not supplied). Although not its primary use, the Type 1 connector button (lime green) can be secured to the plate using an M5 countersunk screw (not supplied), which is useful for users requiring a glued button mount.

TYPE 2 COMPACT Push-on connector

The TYPE 2 COMPACT Push-on connector is the latest solution that performs even better. A robust and easy-to-use way to connect and hang items. The Button-fix Type 2 compact is made of glass-fiber reinforced nylon. This model connects panels at a 90° angle and snaps into place with a simple push. Its design allows for high strength values. Provided the screws and substrate are properly aligned and all other instructions are followed, independent tests have shown that a vertical panel attached with four Type 2 compact PUSH-ON connectors can withstand a maximum load of 60 kg. The advantage of using TYPE 2 Compact connectors is the developed marker, which also fits the TYPE 2 Compact DROP-DOWN connector.

Guide loads:

The Button-fix Type 2 compact is made of glass-fiber reinforced nylon. This model connects panels at a 90° angle and snaps into place with a simple slide. Its design allows for high strength values. Provided the screws and subfloor are properly aligned and all other instructions are followed, independent tests have shown that a vertical panel attached with four Type 2 compact DROP-DOWN connectors can withstand a maximum load of 120 kg. The advantage of using TYPE 2 Compact connectors is the developed marker, which also fits the TYPE 2 Compact PUSH-ON connector.

TYPE 3 connector

TYPE 3 connector is our new push-on/pull-off product for wall and ceiling panels. Simply connects parallel panels, including panels with no clearance at the side. It can be surface-mounted or semi-recessed into the panel and its installation depth matches the Type 1 Button-fix, allowing the two fasteners to be used to hang adjacent panels.

The Fix housing is moulded from PBT and the Button is acetal – both strong and durable engineering polymers. As a general guide, four Button-fix Type 3 fasteners on a vertical panel will support loads weighing up to a maximum of 60kg (132 lbs), provided that the screws and substrate are properly matched and all other installation instructions are complied with. Four Type 3 Button-fixes can also support a ceiling panel of up to 10kg (22 lbs).

TYPE 3 furniture where it is used:

Wall and lightweight ceiling panels
Boat interiors with irregular-shaped panels
Acoustic panels including acoustic felt panels
Upholstered panels, bed headboards and banquette seating
Panels at the end-of-run or in tight corners on a Button-fix Type 1 installation, where sliding engagement is not possible

Fix-pad

Self-adhesive Fix-pads for Type 1 Bonded are ideal for light duty applications where speed of assembly is important. In the surface configuration, such a connection is characterized by a force of 2 kg per connector. We recommend using the adhesive pad with the TYPE 1 BONDED connector in a recessed configuration.

The TYPE 1 FLUSH solo connector is a solid and reliable way to invisibly connect and hang objects. The Button-fix Type 1 Flush is molded from glass fiber reinforced nylon. It is designed for applications where panel-to-panel contact is required and fits into a milled oval pocket. It can be mounted on the edge of a panel at least 28mm thick or on the surface of a panel at least 18mm thick and can be positioned for vertical or horizontal mounting. Providing the screws and subfloor are properly fitted and all other instructions are followed, independent testing has shown that a vertical panel attached with four Type 1 Flush fasteners can support loads of up to 100 kg (220 lbs). For critical applications it is necessary to perform your own tests.
