This borg lock still works after 15 years!

For 15 years now, we have been servicing the Borg Lock used by members of the Wybunbury Anglers Association in Cheshire. Between fishing seasons, the lock is returned to our Service Department where we carefully dismantle, clean and rebuild it to ensure it keeps working perfectly.

And, although the lock might not win any beauty contests, Paul Harding, the Association’s Secretary says:
“It looks battered and bruised but still performs ‘like when new’.”
With several hundred members in the Wybunbury Anglers Association, the lock is put through its paces every single day of the busy fishing season, during which it is opened and closed thousands and thousands of times…always without any problems!

Here’s the 15+ year old Borg Lock at the Wybunbury Anglers Association Jubilee Pools fishing ponds. It’s still working as well today, without fail, as it did the day it was installed.

The lock is a vital part of the access control to the secured fishing ponds owned by the Association at Jubilee Pools; this is a complex of three pools located on a 20 acre site close to the village of Wybunbury. The Association was established in 1949 and currently it owns the freehold to this site, having completed the purchase in 1977, when the former sand quarry ceased operating.

Volunteers have worked very hard over many years to transform the ‘sand/water’ bowl into a beautiful, and much sought after fishery, that the anglers enjoy today.

The site is totally enclosed by a substantial fence, with vehicular access and parking via a large gated entrance. Members are issued with the combination to gain access via a trusted Borg Combination Lock.

Paul said: This Borg Lock has proved its worth, and is now at least 15 years old, but functions today just as it did when purchased new all those years ago. This is due to the excellent customer care, and annual service provided by Joe Charnley and his colleagues at Borg Locks Ltd, Upminster, Essex. ‘Thank You’ – we look forward to maintaining our contact for future needs.”

Joe Charnley commented: ““We’ve worked very hard to ensure that the Marine Grade Pro range of Borg Locks really do live up to our promises of longevity. This 15 year old lock proves that Marine Grade from Borg Locks really is the original and the best in the market!”

The volunteers plan to paint the fencing during their next off season but for now, they are busy enjoying the tranquil fishing offered at the beautiful Jubilee Pools.
In case you needed any proof of the reliability and longevity of the Marine Grade Borg Locks, then these photos by Paul Harding, Secretary of the Wybunbury Anglers Association in Cheshire will definitely do that!
